We are a friendly group of local people who enjoy gardening and growing, whether at home or on the allotment;  flowers, fruit, vegetables, herbs, wildlife … you name it, we are interested in it!

Throughout the year the society runs a programme of talks (free to members), visits (both to local gardens and further afield) and workshops. Meetings are held in the evenings at either Blackboys Village Hall or Framfield Memorial Hall around a broad range of fascinating topics and  with plenty of time for a drink and chat.  We offer a glass of wine on arrival also tea, coffee and biscuits and the chance to buy some great plants on the Society’s plant stall

The highlight of the society’s year is The Summer Show which provides all the elements of the traditional village show. At its heart is the Horticultural Show itself, in the marquee and Memorial Hall, where healthy competition is in evidence in the flower, produce, cookery and handicraft classes, and special sections are included for novices and children. Elsewhere on the Rec there are entertainments  & music in the main arena, a not-too-serious dog show and many stalls selling refreshments, ‘craft’ items – and much much more! A fun day out for all the family!

The society is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and as such is able to award its Banksian medal for the really serious vegetable grower in the Horticultural marquee.

We have also negotiated discounts at many local nurseries for our members as well as having our own ‘plant stall’ at some meetings and at the Summer Show.

There are so many good reasons to join our society but perhaps the most compelling is to meet other garden enthusiasts in the local area, to share knowledge and experience. If you are new to the area, joining our society is a great way to get into  the local ‘gardening scene’ and meet like-minded people. At £6 for single or £10 for family membership it really is a bargain!

If you are not a member, we’d welcome you to the society and hope that this website and the links below will give you a taster and make you want to join. For existing members, we hope the website will keep you up-to-date with what is going on and give you a valuable resource for all your gardening needs.
